North East: A new local enterprise partnership for the North East of England was approved by Minister for Business, Mark Prisk, and Decentralisation Minister, Greg Clark.  Lord Hestletine also visited Yorkshire to encourage local businesses and entrepreneurs to bid for cash from the Government’s flagship £1.4bn Regional Growth Fund.

Postal Services

Postal Services Bill: The Postal Services Bill has completed its passage through the House of Commons and will now be considered by the House of Lords.

Regulation

Flexible parental leave: The Government has announced more detail on its plans for a new system of flexible parental leave to help parents balance their work and family commitments.

Default Retirement Age: The Government has confirmed that it will remove the Default Retirement Age (DRA) so that people have more choice when to stop working.
